Corpus: Brachial fascia
Definition
Anatomy
The brachial fascia continues from the deltoid fascia of the deltoid muscle, the pectoral fascia of the pectoralis major muscle, and the axillary fascia, and it transitions distally into the antebrachial fascia, which surrounds the musculature of the forearm.
It is connected proximally to the acromion, the clavicle, and the spine of the scapula, and it sends muscle septa deep into the tissue, separating the upper arm muscle from each other. Distally, it is attached to the epicondyles of the humerus. The brachial fascia is thicker over the triceps brachii muscle on the dorsal side of the upper arm than on the ventral side over the biceps brachii muscle.
Function
The brachial fascia serves as the origin surface for some fibers of the upper arm muscles and forms the muscular compartments of the upper arm.
