Corpus: Proper hepatic artery
1. Definition
The proper hepatic artery is a vascular branch of the common hepatic artery, which originates from the celiac trunk.
2. Course
The proper hepatic artery runs within the hepatoduodenal ligament and initially gives off the right gastric artery to supply the lesser curvature of the stomach. As it approaches the liver within the hepatic portal, it divides into two main branches: the right branch and the left branch. The right branch also gives rise to the cystic artery, which supplies the gallbladder.
