1. Definition
The plantar tarsometatarsal ligaments are taut connective tissue fibers on the sole of the foot. They extend from the tarsus (cuneiform and cuboid bones) longitudinally and transversely to the bases of the metatarsal bones.
2. Function
The plantar tarsometatarsal ligaments reinforce the tarsometatarsal joint, providing stability and support to the structure of the foot.
