1. Definition
The common palmar digital nerves are predominantly sensory nerve branches on the palmar side of the hand, from which the proper palmar digital nerves emerge. They mainly originate from the median nerve and to a lesser extent from the ulnar nerve.
2. Course
The common palmar digital nerves run along the metacarpal bones. From the median nerve, three nerves emerge, whose terminal branches motorically supply the lumbrical muscles I and II. The ulnar nerve forms a common palmar digital nerve.
