Corpus: Common palmar digital nerves
1. Definition
The common palmar digital nerves are predominantly sensory nerve branches on the palmar side of the hand. They give rise to the proper palmar digital nerves. They mainly originate from the median nerve and to a lesser extent from the ulnar nerve.
2. Course
The common palmar digital nerves run along the metacarpal bones. The median nerve gives rise to three nerves whose terminal branches innervate the lumbrical muscles I and II. The ulnar nerve forms a common palmar digital nerve.
