Definition
The dorsal nasal artery is a terminal branch of the ophthalmic artery that runs along the bridge of the nose.
Course
The dorsal nasal artery arises from the ophthalmic artery above the medial palpebral ligament. After giving off a small vascular branch to the upper part of the lacrimal sac, it divides into two branches.
The first branch crosses the root of the nose and anastomoses with the angular artery, while the second branch runs along the bridge of the nose, supplying the skin and subcutaneous tissue in this area. It forms anastomoses with the corresponding artery on the opposite side and with the lateral nasal artery from the facial artery.
