1. Definition
The retroauricular lymph nodes are lymph nodes behind the auricle on the mastoid process.
2. Anatomy
The retroauricular lymph nodes are usually 2 smaller lymph nodes located in the insertion area of the sternocleidomastoid muscle below the posterior auricular muscle.
They drain the posterior part of the temporal region, parts of the parietal region, the upper part of the auricle and the posterior wall of the external acoustic meatus. They drain their lymph into the deep cervical lymph nodes.
