Corpus: Deep cervical lymph nodes
1. Definition
The deep cervical lymph nodes are lymph nodes of the cervical region that lie beneath the superficial cervical fascia. They receive lymph from the head region and the superficial cervical lymph nodes.
2. Anatomy
The deep cervical lymph nodes are divided into the following lymph node groups:
- anterior deep cervical lymph nodes: in the anterior neck region below the hyoid bone
- lateral deep cervical lymph nodes: in the lateral neck region and in the area of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and
- retropharyngeal lymph nodes
