Corpus: Lateral pectoral nerve
1. Definition
The lateral pectoral nerve is supplied by the spinal cord segments C5 to C7 and originates from the superior trunk or lateral cord of the brachial plexus.
2. Course
In the region of the deltoid triangle, the lateral pectoral nerve crosses the axillary artery and vein. It then descends, piercing the clavipectoral fascia and the pectoralis minor muscle. The nerve gives off some fibres to the medial pectoral nerve before entering the pectoralis major muscle.
3. Function
The lateral pectoral nerve provides motor innervation to the pectoralis minor and pectoralis major muscles.
