Corpus: Inferior ulnar collateral artery
1. Definition
The inferior ulnar collateral artery is a small branch of the brachial artery located in the region of the elbow joint.
2. Course
The inferior ulnar collateral artery originates approximately 4-5 cm above the elbow joint from the brachial artery. This vessel runs medially on the brachialis muscle and pierces the medial intermuscular septum. It wraps around the back of the humerus between the triceps brachii muscle and the bone.
The artery forms anastomoses with the profunda brachii artery, anterior to the medial epicondyle with the anterior ulnar recurrent artery, and posterior to the medial epicondyle with the superior ulnar collateral artery and the posterior ulnar recurrent artery.
