Corpus: Greater pancreatic artery
1. Definition
The greater pancreatic artery is an artery that supplies blood to the pancreas and originates from the splenic artery.
2. Course
The greater pancreatic artery branches off from the splenic artery roughly at the midpoint of its course and descends towards the posterior surface of the pancreas. In the region of the tail of the pancreas, it forms anastomoses with several other pancreatic arteries, including the dorsal pancreatic artery, caudal pancreatic artery, and inferior pancreatic artery, all of which also originate from the splenic artery.
