Corpus: Dorsal metacarpal arteries
1. Definition
The dorsal metacarpal arteries are branches that emerge from the dorsal carpal branch of the radial artery or from the dorsal carpal network, supplying the dorsal parts of the metacarpus and fingers.
2. Course
The dorsal metacarpal arteries run across the dorsal interossei muscles distally and then branch into the dorsal digital arteries. They form anastomoses with the palmar metacarpal arteries and the common palmar digital arteries through perforating branches. The first dorsal metacarpal artery directly arises from the radial artery.
