Corpus: Circumflex fibular artery
Synonym: Ramus circumflexus fibularis (arteriae tibialis posterioris)
1. Definition
The circumflex fibular artery is a vascular branch of the posterior tibial artery or the anterior tibial artery.
2. Course
The circumflex fibular artery runs laterally around the neck of fibula and pierces the soleus muscle. It feeds blood into the patellar network, where it anastomoses with the inferior lateral genicular artery, the medial genicular artery and the recurrent anterior tibial artery.
