Definition
The superolateral genicular nerve is a sensory branch of the common fibular nerve. It is involved in the sensory supply of the knee joint.
Background
The sensitive nerve branches of the knee joint include
- Inferolateral genicular nerve
- Inferomedial genicular nerve
- Superolateral genicular nerve
- Superomedial genicular nerve
Course
The superolateral genicular nerve branches off from the common fibular nerve above the knee joint and runs ventrally above the lateral femoral condyle.
