Definition

Als Rotationsscherbrüche bezeichnet man Frakturen der thorakolumbalen Wirbelsäule. Sie ist ein Subtyp der Typ-C Fraktur (Rotationsverletzung).

Hintergrund

Der Bruch ist gekennzeichnet durch eine mehrstufige Scherverletzung zweier Wirbelkörper, meist in Kombination mit einer Kompressionsverletzung und einer Hyperflexion oder -extension. Häufig kommt es zu einer Verletzung des Rückenmarks und somit zu neurologischen Ausfällen.
