Corpus: Posterior cutaneous nerve of forearm
Synonyms: dorsal cutaneous nerve of forearm, dorsal antebrachial cutaneous nerve
1. Definition
The posterior cutaneous nerve of forearm is a branch of the radial nerve that provides sensory innervation to the skin on the back of the forearm.
2. Anatomy
The posterior cutaneous nerve of forearm (Nervus cutaneus antebrachii dorsalis) originates in the radial groove and passes near its insertion through the lateral head of the triceps brachii muscle. It then typically pierces the brachial fascia above the origin of the brachioradialis muscle. Subsequently, it divides into two branches (rami), which provide sensory innervation to the skin around the elbow and on the dorsal side of the forearm.
