Corpus: Mylohyoid nerve
1. Definition
The mylohyoid nerve is a motor branch of the inferior alveolar nerve that supplies the mylohyoid muscle and the anterior head of the digastric muscle.
2. Anatomy
The mylohyoid nerve branches off immediately before the inferior alveolar nerve enters the mandibular foramen. It runs downward in a small bony groove (mylohyoid groove) on the ascending ramus of the mandible and finally reaches the mylohyoid muscle and the anterior belly of the digastric muscle, providing them with motor innervation.
