Corpus: Interclavicular ligament
1. Definition
The interclavicular ligament is a flat ligament that reinforces the sternoclavicular joints.
2. Anatomy
The shape and size of the ligament vary greatly from person to person. The fibres of the ligament run in a curve between the sternal ends of the right and left clavicle. They also attach to the manubrium of sternum. Ventrally, the ligament borders on the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the integument.
3. Function
The interclavicular ligament serves to stabilise the two sternoclavicular joints and the clavicles in relation to each other.
