1. Definition
The inferior petrosal sinus is a paired intradural venous vessel of the brain that runs parallel to the superior petrosal sinus, along the lower edge of the petrous part of the temporal bone in the inferior petrosal sulcus. It is connected to the cavernous sinus and conducts venous blood from the middle cranial fossa to the superior bulb of the internal jugular vein.
