Corpus: Forehead
1. Definition
The forehead is the upper part of the human face.
2. Anatomy
The anatomical name of the forehead is "regio frontalis". It is part of the upper face, extending from the upper edge of the eye sockets (supraorbital margin) to the hairline, known as the trichion. It is bordered on the sides by the right and left temporal regions, and at the top by the parietal region.
The frontal bone forms the bony structure of the forehead and houses the two frontal sinuses. The occipitofrontalis muscle runs through the subcutaneous tissue of the forehead, and its contraction causes the skin to wrinkle, as seen in frowning.
