Corpus: Dorsal digital arteries of the hand
1. Definition
The dorsal digital arteries of the hand (Arteriae digitales dorsales manus) are small branches from the dorsal metacarpal arteries that supply arterial blood to the fingers.
2. Course
The dorsal digital arteries arise from the bifurcation of the dorsal metacarpal arteries (Arteriae metacarpales dorsales). They run along with nerve branches to supply the fingers, following the lateral, dorsal aspect of the finger phalanges for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th digits (middle finger, ring finger, and little finger). Their fine terminal branches form anastomoses with the proper palmar digital arteries.
