Corpus: Distal radioulnar joint
1. Definition
2. Anatomy
The distal radioulnar joint is a pivot joint with only one axis of movement. It allows for pronation and supination movements of the forearm and operates in conjunction with the proximal radioulnar joint (PRUJ). The stability of the joint is ensured by a complex of ligaments and interarticular discs known as the triangular fibrocartilage complex.
3. Clinic
Despite being a small joint, the DRUJ plays a significant role in the mobility of the forearm and the wrist. Osteoarthritis of the distal radioulnar joint accordingly leads to limitations in movement.
