1. Definition
The coracobrachialis muscle is a muscle of the ventral group of shoulder muscles.
2. Anatomy
It originates from the coracoid process of the scapula. Its insertion lies on the anteromedial surface of the humeral shaft in the distal extension of the crest of the lesser tubercle.
3. Innervation
Innervation is provided by the musculocutaneous nerve from the lateral cord of the brachial plexus (segments: C5-C7).
4. Function
The coracobrachialis muscle causes internal rotation, adduction, and anteversion of the upper arm.
