Corpus: Superficial iliac circumflex vein
1. Definition
The superficial iliac circumflex vein is a superficial vein that accompanies the superficial iliac circumflex artery and is one of the five veins that contribute to the formation of the "venous star."
2. Anatomy
The superficial iliac circumflex vein follows an arc around the outer edge of the iliac crest, draining venous blood from the lower and lateral portions of the anterior abdominal wall. It ultimately empties into the great saphenous vein or the femoral vein near the saphenous hiatus.
