Corpus: Submental lymph nodes
1. Definition
The submental lymph nodes are 1 to 2 lymph nodes located under the chin in the submandibular triangle.
2. Anatomy
The submental lymph nodes lie superficially on the mylohyoid muscle. Together with the submandibular lymph nodes, they are the primary filtering stations for lymph from the lymph vessels of the lower face. Their drainage area includes the lower lip, chin, and the anterior tongue. The next set of lymph nodes downstream are the superficial cervical lymph nodes.
