Corpus: Palatopharyngeal sphincter muscle
1. Definition
The sphincter palatopharyngeus muscle is a component of the pharyngeal muscles. It is made up of fibers that branch off from the upper portion of the palatopharyngeal muscle. These fibers extend posteriorly to form an incomplete muscular ring at the level of the first cervical vertebra (C1).
