Corpus: Musculophrenic artery
1. Definition
The musculophrenic artery is a lateral terminal branch of the internal thoracic artery, originating near the 6th rib.
2. Anatomy
The musculophrenic artery supplies arterial blood to the diaphragm and portions of the abdominal muscles. Along its course, it gives off anterior intercostal branches for ribs 7 to 11. In the diaphragm, it forms anastomoses with the superior phrenic artery.
