Corpus: Lateral thoracic vein
1. Definition
The lateral thoracic vein is a superficial vein that drains into the axillary vein.
2. Anatomy
The lateral thoracic vein runs alongside the lateral thoracic artery along the lateral thoracic wall, lying on the surface of the serratus anterior muscle. It collects venous blood from the mammary gland and the muscles of the chest wall, including the serratus anterior, pectoralis major, and pectoralis minor muscles, before emptying into the axillary vein.
