2. Anatomy
The fibers of the ischiofemoral ligament are situated at the back of the hip joint, below and behind the acetabulum. The ligament extends from the ischial bone to the intertrochanteric line of the femur. Its fibers radiate into the circular fibers of the joint capsule of the hip joint.
3. Function
The ischiofemoral ligament limits the internal rotation of the thigh and helps prevent extreme adduction.
