Corpus: Inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery
1. Definition
The inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery is a branch of the superior mesenteric artery.
2. Course
The inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery branches off from the superior mesenteric artery at the upper edge of the lower part of the duodenum. It runs between the head of the pancreas and the duodenum, moving to the right and then ascending to form an anastomosis with the two branches of the superior pancreaticoduodenal artery. This artery supplies blood to the head of the pancreas and provides branches to the descending and lower parts of the duodenum.
