2.1. Origin
The flexor digiti minimi brevis muscle shares its area of origin with the opponens digiti minimi muscle of the foot. Its origins include:
- the plantar side of the base of the fifth metatarsal bone
- the long plantar ligament
- the tendon sheath of the fibularis longus muscle
2.2. Attachment
The flexor digiti minimi brevis muscle inserts at the base of the proximal phalanx of the little toe.
3. Innervation
The flexor digiti minimi brevis muscle is innervated by the lateral plantar nerve, a branch of the tibial nerve.
4. Function
The flexor digiti minimi brevis muscle flexes and abducts the little toe at the metatarsophalangeal joint.
