Corpus: Dorsal metacarpal ligaments
1. Definition
The dorsal metacarpal ligaments are short, fibrous ligaments running from bone to bone in the hand. They tightly connect the dorsal aspect of the bases of the second to fifth metacarpal bones (Ossa metacarpalia). Together with the interosseous and palmar metacarpal ligaments, they restrict the mobility of the intermetacarpal joints. However, they also allow slight bone displacements against each other.
