Corpus: Coracoarcomial ligament
1. Definition
The coracoacromial ligament is a strong, triangular band that spans between the coracoid process and the acromion of the scapula.
2. Anatomy
The coracoacromial ligament attaches with its pointed end immediately in front of the articular surface of the acromioclavicular joint. Its broad base extends along the entire length of the coracoid process.
Together with the acromion and the coracoid process, the ligament covers the humeral head. Cranially, it is closely related to the underside of the deltoid muscle. Caudally, the coracoacromial ligament borders the supraspinatus muscles, from which it is separated by a bursa.
