1. Definition
The compressor narium minor muscle is a small paired muscle located at the tip of the nose. It is present in slightly more than half of the population.
2. Anatomy
The compressor narium minor muscle originates from the anterior part of the major alar cartilage. Its fibers run upward (cranially).
3. Innervation
The compressor narium minor muscle is innervated by the temporal and zygomatic branches of the facial nerve (cranial nerve VII).
4. Function
The compressor narium minor muscle works in conjunction with the transverse part of the nasalis muscle to compress the nostril.
