Corpus: Common iliac lymph nodes
1. Definition
The common iliac lymph nodes are lymph nodes located in the pelvic region, following the course of the common iliac artery and vein.
2. Anatomy
There are typically 4-6 common iliac lymph nodes, which function primarily as collecting lymph nodes. They receive limited direct lymphatic inflows, including drainage from the ureteral wall. These lymph nodes drain into the lumbar lymph nodes and the lumbar trunk, contributing to the body's lymphatic circulation.
