Corpus: Anterior interosseous nerve
Synonym: volar interosseous nerve
1. Definition
The anterior interosseous nerve is a pure motor branch of the median nerve.
2. Course
The anterior interosseous nerve runs alongside the anterior interosseous artery on the front side of the interosseous membrane of the forearm in the volar interosseous space. This space is located between the flexor pollicis longus muscle and the flexor digitorum profundus muscle. The nerve terminates in the pronator quadratus muscle.

Compression or other traumatic damage to the nerve can result in anterior interosseous nerve syndrome.
