Corpus: Anterior intercostal veins
1. Definition
The anterior intercostal veins are vessels of the thoracic wall located in the front part of the intercostal spaces.
2. Anatomy
The anterior intercostal veins accompany the branches of the anterior intercostal arteries, running along the upper and lower borders of each rib. As a result, there are two anterior intercostal veins in each intercostal space. They are responsible for draining blood from the anterior and lateral portions of the trunk wall and empty into the right or left internal thoracic veins.
