Cranial is an adjective with the meanings: Located in or directed toward the head or cranium; pertaining to, situated in, or oriented toward the head of the body; closer to the body's head.

Example: a cranial nerve is a nerve that emerges directly from the brain or the brainstem.

The opposite of cranial is caudal.
