Corpus: Obliquus superior capitis muscle: Unterschied zwischen den Versionen

The obliquus capitis superior muscle is a skeletal muscle located on the neck. It belongs to the autochthonous back musculature.

The area of origin of the obliquus capitis superior muscle is the transverse process of the atlas. After an oblique course, the muscle attaches to the lateral third of the linea nuchae inferior on the occipital bone.

The superior oblique muscle is innervated by lateral branches of the posterior rami from the spinal nerves of spinal cord segments C1 and C2. The dorsal ramus of the first spinal nerve is also known as the suboccipital nerve.

The function of the obliquus capitis superior muscle is to tilt the head to the same side when contracted on one side. When contracted on both sides, the muscle supports the dorsiflexion of the head.
