Definition
The nerve to obturator internus is a motor nerve branch from the sacral plexus that supplies the internal obturator muscle.
Anatomy
The nerve to obturator internus contains fibers from the L5, S1 and S2 segments. The nerve leaves the pelvis below the piriformis muscle through the greater ischiadic foramen and gives off a branch to the superior gemellus muscle. It then re-enters the pelvis through the lesser ischiadic foramen and sends its fibers to the internal obturator muscle.
