Corpus: Transverse arytenoid muscle
1. Definition
The transverse arytenoid muscle is part of the internal laryngeal musculature.
2. Course
The transverse arytenoid muscle originates from the posterior surface of one arytenoid cartilage and extends horizontally to the corresponding surface of the opposite arytenoid cartilage.
3. Innervation
This muscle is innervated by the inferior laryngeal nerve, a branch of the recurrent laryngeal nerve.
4. Function
The transverse arytenoid muscle acts to constrict the intercartilaginous part of the glottis, playing a key role in the complete closure of it.
