Corpus: Superficial inguinal ring

The annulus inguinalis superficialis is the external opening of the inguinal canal located on the medial outer side of the abdominal wall.

The superficial inguinal canal is a slit-shaped opening in the aponeurosis of the external abdominal oblique muscle, which is bounded medially and laterally by two fibrous legs (crura), the medial crus and the lateral crus. The dorsal wall forms the ligamentum reflexum. It is also reinforced ventrally by the intercrural fibres.
