Corpus: Spinal vein

'"Spinal vein" is an umbrella term for vertically running venous vessels of the spinal cord that drain into the anterior radicular veins or posterior radicular veins. A distinction is made between one or more anterior spinal veins and one or more posterior spinal veins. The veins drain segmentally into the horizontal system.

The posterior spinal veins run in the posterior median sulcus of the spinal cord, from where they drain into the posterior radicular veins via cross-connections; conversely, the anterior spinal veins (running in the median anterior fissure) drain into the anterior radicular veins.
