Corpus: Sphenoidal spine

The spina angularis ossis sphenoidalis is a prominent bony ridge on the outside of the greater sphenoid wing (ala major ossis sphenoidalis).

The spina angularis serves as the attachment of the sphenomandibular ligament and the pterygospinal ligament and as the origin of the tensor veli palatini muscle. A small indentation for the chorda tympani can often be seen on the medial surface of the spina.
