2. Anatomy
The fibers of the pubofemoral ligament are situated caudal to the hip joint and form part of its joint capsule. The ligament attaches cranially to the upper branch of the pubic bone or to the obturator crest. Caudally, its fibers extend to the intertrochanteric line and intermingle with the fibers of the joint capsule and the iliofemoral ligament.
3. Function
The pubofemoral ligament limits the abduction of the thigh.
