Synonym: spring ligament
1. Definition
The plantar calcaneonavicular ligament is a ligament that is part of the ligamentous apparatus of the anterior talotarsal joint.
2. Anatomy
The plantar calcaneonavicular ligament connects the sustentaculum tali of the calcaneus in the area of the medial articular surface with the navicular bone. It has a fibrocartilaginous articular surface, which, together with the calcaneus and the navicular bone, forms a socket for the head of the talus. The plantar calcaneonavicular ligament wraps around the plantar head of the talus, securing its position.
