Corpus: Parietal peritoneum
1. Definition
The parietal peritoneum is the outer layer of the peritoneum that lines the abdominal cavity. It is connected to the visceral peritoneum through mesenteries.
2. Innervation
The parietal peritoneum located just below the diaphragm is innervated by the phrenic nerve, while the rest of the parietal peritoneum receives sensory innervation from the segmental spinal nerves.
The parietal peritoneum is significantly more sensitive to pain stimuli compared to the visceral peritoneum.
