Corpus: Left gastroomental artery
Synonym: left gastroepiploic artery
1. Definition
The left gastroomental artery is a vascular branch originating from the celiac trunk that supplies arterial blood to the stomach.
2. Course
The left gastroomental artery arises from the splenic artery, itself a major branch of the celiac trunk. It runs from the cranial side towards the greater curvature of the stomach, where it forms anastomoses with the right gastroomental artery. In its course, the left gastroepiploic artery initially lies in the gastrosplenic ligament and then joins the gastrocolic ligament.
