Corpus: Inferior gluteal veins
1. Definition
The inferior gluteal veins are veins accompanying the inferior gluteal artery.
2. Anatomy
The inferior gluteal veins receive numerous smaller tributary vessels from the lower part of the gluteal muscles and the upper part of the posterior thigh, corresponding with the branches of the inferior gluteal artery. In the thigh, they anastomose with the medial circumflex femoral vein. The inferior gluteal veins enter the pelvis below the piriformis muscle through the greater sciatic foramen and typically flow into the internal iliac vein via a common vascular trunk.
