1. Definition
The inferior anastomotic vein is a superficial cerebral vein that connects the transverse sinus with the superior sagittal sinus and the superficial cerebral vein, forming an anastomosis. It drains the temporal lobe and runs below the superior anastomotic vein.
2. Anatomy
The inferior anastomotic vein originates from the Sylvian vein group in the brain. It drains into the anterior part of the transverse sinus at the level of the middle temporal vein. Along its course, it collects smaller surrounding branches.
